RWY 22 is up sloped, On final it will seem that you are too high, watch the Pulsating VASI! stay high depending on the time of day and weather you may have an updraft or downdraft at the threshold .
Takeoffs are slow due to uphill runway, get V1 and you will stay in ground effect, you are climbing but the ground is climbing with you. Keep Vy till the runway will end and you will get 1000 AGL.

Catalina's airport, the "Airport in the Sky" (AVX), was completed in 1946. Catalina Airlines was founded by Dick Probert. The 3,250-foot (990 m) runway sits on a mountaintop,
1,602 feet (488 m) above sea level. Until the time of the airport's construction, the only air service to the island was provided by Seaplanes
